Y Combinator-Backed Vela Launches AI Scheduling Coordinator Focused on Email-Based Meeting Management

SAN FRANCISCO, April 4, 2026 (VSNewsNetwork.com) — Technology company Vela which specializes in AI-powered scheduling coordination, has announced the launch of its AI scheduling assistant designed to automate meeting coordination within email and messaging platforms.

The company, part of Y Combinator’s Winter 2026 batch, describes its product as an “AI scheduling coordinator” rather than a traditional calendar booking tool. Vela operates directly within email threads and messaging platforms, where users can copy the assistant into conversations. The system then reads context, proposes meeting times, follows up with participants and sends calendar invites once scheduling is finalized.

Vela is targeting industries such as staffing and executive search, where meeting coordination frequently involves multiple stakeholders and extended email exchanges. In these sectors, the coordination process often involves managing parallel email threads between candidates, recruiters, and clients, where missed follow-ups can directly affect outcomes.

Recent advances in large language models enable Vela to extract availability, interpret tone, track context across threads and determine when to follow up or wait during scheduling.

Early customers include Paragon Legal and FirstLook Partners, with pilot programs underway at larger executive search firms. Vela reports that it schedules thousands of meetings each week for teams that work with companies including Netflix, LinkedIn, SanDisk, Zoox, Scale.AI, Via, Pony.AI and AWS.

Vela supports coordination across email, SMS, WhatsApp, Slack, Microsoft Teams and phone communications. Users can initiate scheduling by copying a Vela email address into a thread or texting instructions directly. The assistant then pulls availability from participants, proposes times across time zones and manages rescheduling if conflicts arise.

Vela is backed by Y Combinator, Pareto Holdings, Z Fellows and Cory Levy.
