Westcliff University Appoints Cesar Rivas-Sandoval as Director of Athletics

IRVINE, Calif., October 3, 2025 (VSNewsNetwork.com) — Westcliff University has appointed Cesar Rivas-Sandoval as its new Director of Athletics.
Rivas-Sandoval brings more than 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics, including leadership and coaching positions at both NCAA and NAIA programs. His background includes roles at Azusa Pacific University, Southeastern University, University of Sioux Falls, University of Tennessee–Martin, and University of Nebraska–Kearney. Most recently, he served as Deputy Director of Athletics at the University of La Verne, where he oversaw operations, compliance, and program development across multiple varsity sports.
According to Dr. Anthony Lee, President and CEO of Westcliff University, Rivas-Sandoval’s leadership supports the university’s mission to advance both academic achievement and athletic success.

Westcliff Athletics currently supports approximately 350 student-athletes. Over the past five years, the program has achieved 27 conference titles, 35 championships, 13 individual titles, and eight national titles.
Throughout his career, Rivas-Sandoval has focused on a holistic approach to athletics that combines academic success, athletic performance, and personal development. In his new role, he will focus on advancing Westcliff’s athletic programming, enhancing student engagement, and continuing the university’s expansion within collegiate sports.
