FREMONT, Calif., December 23, 2025 (VSNewsNetwork.com) — Battery technology company Amprius Technologies, Inc. has announced the appointment of President Tom Stepien as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. The leadership transition follows the planned retirement of current CEO Dr. Kang Sun, who will remain with the company as a board member and Executive Advisor.
Dr. Sun founded Amprius in 2015 and has led the organization in developing and commercializing silicon-anode lithium-ion batteries used in aerospace, electric mobility, and other high-performance applications.

Stepien joined Amprius as President in May 2025. His background includes more than 35 years in technology leadership roles, including CEO of South 8 Technologies, cofounder and CEO of Primus Power, and earlier leadership positions at Applied Materials.

Amprius manufactures high-energy and high-power lithium-ion batteries through its SiCore and SiMaxx product lines and maintains R&D and manufacturing operations in Fremont. Additional capacity is being developed through contract manufacturing partnerships, according to the company.
