The annual summit, hosted by Sistahs in Dentistry (SID), is designed to empower and connect Black women dentists through mentorship, professional education, and business development. The two-day event features workshops and discussions on topics such as one-piece dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, tax and estate planning, and strategies for scaling dental practices.
Dr. Smith was invited to the conference to share insights on integrating advanced procedures into general dentistry practices to increase clinical capabilities and financial advancement. She is recognized as an expert in the One-Piece Dental Implant procedure, a modern method for replacing missing teeth and securing loose dentures. Dr. Smith’s presentation will focus on teaching other dentists how to perform the procedure and incorporate it successfully into their practices.
“Speaking to this group of doctors allows me to educate and mentor other dentists who look like me. In our profession, we are not the dominant demographic, and I am inspired to teach this group of doctors to expand their practice beyond the traditional drill and fill and empower them to take on cases that are typically not part of general dentistry. Learning advanced procedures allows for the kind of economic freedom that comes from offering services that are both in high demand and clinically advanced,” said Dr. Smith.
