AI Platform HealthLiteracyCopilot™ Launched to Enhance Readability and Compliance in Healthcare Communication
ANAHEIM, Calif., May 23, 2025 (VSNewsNetwork.com) — Nonprofit organization the Institute for Healthcare Advancement (IHA) has announced the launch of HealthLiteracyCopilot™, a new AI-powered web application designed to improve the clarity, compliance, and accessibility of healthcare communications.
Corporate Business News Sponsored by Business Watch Global
HealthLiteracyCopilot™ enables healthcare organizations to assess, edit, and translate health content using artificial intelligence aligned with industry-standard tools. The platform integrates assessment methodologies such as the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool (PEMAT), IHA’s Plain Language Assessment Tool for Organizations (PLATO™), and its Numeric-Plain Language Assessment Tool (N-PLAT™).
The tool addresses a national issue in health literacy. Based on federal data cited by IHA, 88% of adults in the U.S. have less than proficient health literacy, which can result in reduced treatment adherence, higher healthcare costs, and poor health outcomes. Studies show that low health literacy contributes an estimated $238 billion in annual economic burden.
Research referenced by IHA includes a 2024 randomized trial by Sayfi et al. showing that plain language recommendations improved patient comprehension and satisfaction. Additionally, a 2008 study by Yin et al. found that plain language pictograms reduced medication dosing errors among caregivers of children.

The software not only evaluates readability but also considers cultural relevance, numeracy, and design, and provides automated revision suggestions to enhance overall effectiveness. The application includes optional translation services in 12 of the most spoken non-English languages in the U.S.
Healthcare organizations, including health systems, payers, pharmaceutical firms, and public health agencies, are expected to benefit from faster review times, increased regulatory compliance, and improved patient outcomes.
